Our writers and editors
Our writers come from a diverse set of professional backgrounds, including education, law, marketing, and more. Before gravitating toward career services, we all had experience navigating the job market ourselves. Now at Resume Genius, we’re united by our passion for providing you with helpful, quality content to guide you through the job hunting process.
Together, our content team ensures that all the content published on Resume Genius is accurate, well-researched, and informative. Our writers research new topics and draft articles, our editors then review everything to make sure it’s factually correct and free of grammar and spelling issues, then our editors review. Finally, our team of CPRWs gives everything a final look to make sure our advice adheres to industry standards.
Globally recognized expertise
Resume Genius’ career advice has been cited by top publications around the world, including Business Insider, Fox News, CNBC, GOBankingRates, The Huffington Post, Monster, CNET, The NY Post, and more.
Our resume, cover letter, and interview advice has also been cited on 100+ university and government websites.
The Resume Genius editorial process
Here’s a more detailed look at our editorial process:
Our writers find new topics to write about based on trends in hiring or common search queries. Then, they do a deep dive into the topic so they can concisely and accurately summarize everything readers need to know.
2. Draft content
Once we know how we want to present a topic and understand any related questions readers might have, our writers create an initial draft of the article. Each of our articles is intended to be concise, easy to scan, and informative.
3. Quality assurance and editing
After a first draft is completed, a lead editor reviews the content to ensure that it’s accurate, well-written, and helpful. Additionally, a CPRW or industry expert will review the content to verify that our advice is consistent with industry standards.
After our reviewers and editors are done, we create relevant infographics or illustrations to help make the article more engaging. Once graphics are completed, we publish the article.
6. Revisions and updates
All the content on Resume Genius is regularly updated to add any new relevant information, tweak copy, or improve graphics. You can check the publish date at the top of any of our articles to see when the piece was last updated.
Informed by industry leaders
Our writers are experts on the topic of finding a job. However, they can’t know the ins-and-outs of every industry.
To make sure our advice and resume samples are as accurate and helpful as possible, we also work with external reviewers who are experienced professionals in a relevant industry. Once we’ve written a piece of content, we’ll send it to one of the Genius Career Experts for extra insight that only those years of experience can provide.
Our current panel of career experts includes:
- Matt Erhard, Managing Partner & Executive Recruiter at Summit Search Group
- Michele Darley, Career Coach and recruiter veteran with 25+ years of experience
- Bonnie Dilber, Recruiting Manager at Zapier (9+ years of recruitment experience)
- Sophie Gil, Senior Growth Marketing Manager for Buffer

- Jada Reed, Sales Recruiter and author of the “Feedback From a Mutual Friend” LinkedIn Newsletter

Focused on making job hunting more accessible
Finding a job is hard enough as it is without having to struggle with inaccessible career websites. That’s why we’re dedicated to making our articles easy for everyone to access.
Not only are all our resume samples, templates, and blog articles free of ads and paywalls, we also provide alternative formats of many of our top pages. We’re in the process of adding video versions of our blog articles so that those who prefer not to read can engage with our content, as well as audio-only versions of our content for the visually-impaired.
Additionally, we strive to comply with ADA guidelines when publishing all our content. This includes writing detailed alt text, providing captions on video content, and implementing color blind-friendly design principles.
