which resume would you prefer for a fresh graduate applying for a job with no experience?
August 29, 2017 at 4:35 am
Hey there Rayhan,
I’d first check out this page and see if you find anything of value — https://resumegenius.com/resume-samples/internship-resume-example.
The key to writing a resume fresh out of college without work experience is to:
1. Write a killer career objective https://resumegenius.com/how-to-write-a-resume/career-objective-writing-guide
2. Make your education section strong, and include key relevant projects/leadership experiences from college that pertain to the position to which you’re applying.
Good luck with your job search!

Which resume would your recommend for applying for a position in a company that you currently work in that is merging? All staff must re-apply.
September 20, 2017 at 4:33 am
Hi MS. G,
All of these resume templates are perfect for someone in your situation – it just depends on your preference. Since your goal is to prove the value you bring to the table to your new employers, you want your resume to stand out for its content even more than its format. Things that are quantifiable (think numbers, dollar signs, etc.) give your resume weight – check out the following link for some ideas to make the content of your resume stand out: https://resumegenius.com/how-to-write-a-resume/accomplishments-on-resume-quantify-achievements
Good luck, and please feel free to comment again if you have further questions!

September 20, 2017 at 5:04 am
I would suggest that you first decide which type of resume best suits your situation, then choose a matching template. Check out this link and see if one jumps out at you: https://resumegenius.com/resume-formats/ Good luck with your career!
September 24, 2017 at 1:49 pm
what resume template would you suggest for a college student applying for a summer internship
September 30, 2017 at 4:06 am
I’d first recommend checking out this page: https://resumegenius.com/resume-samples/internship-resume-example. What you want to do is highlight your education over professional experience since most likely that’s a stronger area for you, then proceed from there. Good luck landing your internship!
October 19, 2017 at 3:57 pm
Hi colleagues, can some please guide me how to select a new format for resume in US? I worked for more than 8 years with US government in Afghanistan and now I am living in Philadelphia and looking for jobs, my colleagues said that I have to change my CV please advise me which format will be workable for me to be considered by employers. looking for your advices.
October 31, 2017 at 5:19 am
That all depends on if you’re continuing in the same field or you’re going down a new path! I would first recommend reading about the different types of resume formats and seeing if you can decide yourself – https://resumegenius.com/resume-formats. Personally, I’d go with the reverse chronological format – it’s a good choice if you can’t choose one definitively. Good luck on the job hunt!
October 24, 2017 at 2:53 pm
What Resume would you suggest for someone who has jus under 2 years experience in customer/technical support, looking to apply in the same field but has always worked in a customer driven business like cooking and bar tending?
October 31, 2017 at 5:57 am
I’d recommend trying a reverse chronological resume format – the template is totally up to you (as long as it follows that format). https://resumegenius.com/resume-formats/chronological-samples-writing-guide Good luck on the job hunt!

Which resume would you recommend for a high school senior attending an Ivy league school?
December 20, 2017 at 11:36 pm
Surely the best choice for someone attending an Ivy League School is the Harvard Resume Template! In all seriousness though, as a high school student, the Classic Resume Template is more than enough to fit your needs. It has all the characteristics necessary to create a strong, great looking resume.
Hope you have a blast at college!
December 18, 2017 at 11:59 am
Hi RG team,
I am currently looking for a part time job so that I may start saving for a apartment, but the resume i have doesn’t seem to work. Is there anything you would suggest for somebody who is looking for a part time job with no working experience? Thankyou -Dylan
January 15, 2018 at 10:57 pm
If you don’t have any work experience you should showcase the skills, qualities, and achievements you have as a student that are transferable to the jobs you are applying for. Our student resume page and examples will show you exactly how to do this: https://resumegenius.com/resume-samples/internship-resume-example
If you follow the guidelines on that page you should be able to craft a resume that will land you a part-time job in no time. Good luck!
January 22, 2018 at 11:05 am
I see none of these templates include references. Is that something I should not include? I typically have included “available upon request”, but maybe I should leave this off entirely….. Thx!
February 7, 2018 at 4:34 am
We are firm believers that including references on a resume is a waste of valuable page real estate. In most cases if an employer wants references they will ask you for them whether you say they are “available upon request” or not.
If you really feel the need to include some references however, we recommend putting them on a separate professional reference page which we have a guide for here: https://resumegenius.com/how-to-write-a-resume/references-on-a-resume
January 23, 2018 at 3:08 am
I have under 2 years of work experience in sales & am looking tomove into finance. which format should i use?
February 7, 2018 at 4:43 am
The combination resume format is probably the best option for you: https://resumegenius.com/resume-formats/combination-resume-samples
It allows you to show off your work experience, as well as prominently display the skills you have that are transferable to a job in finance. Good luck!

If you are a stay home mom no job experience, what Resume you recommend?
February 7, 2018 at 4:52 am
We actually have a guide created to help stay-at-home moms write a resume – you can check it out here: https://resumegenius.com/resume-samples/stay-at-home-mom-resume-example
Hope it helps you write a great resume!
January 29, 2018 at 3:52 pm
Does every resume need a “career objective?” Could this be omitted on the resume if the objective is included on a required cover letter?
February 8, 2018 at 2:50 am
Every resume absolutely needs some kind of introduction, although it doesn’t necessarily have to be a career objective.
Depending on your level of experience, a professional profile or qualifications summary are both excellent alternatives: https://resumegenius.com/how-to-write-a-resume/how-to-start-a-resume
A career objective (or other intro) is designed to quickly show off your qualifications and hook the hiring manager into reading the rest of your resume. Without one you run the risk of having a resume that is not easily scanned in a few seconds, this can be off putting for a HR that has to get through hundreds of resumes a day.
Hope this helps!

Hi RG Team,
which resume would you recommend for a fresh graduate with no experience applying in insurance companies
February 8, 2018 at 2:56 am
For a fresh graduate any of the templates would be a great choice. All of them are professionally designed and have everything you need to write a great looking resume.
As for the contents of your resume itself, we’d recommend checking out our guide on writing a strong education section since that will be the cornerstone of your resume: https://resumegenius.com/how-to-write-a-resume/education-section-writing-guide
Good luck with your applications!

What would be the best resume for someone returning to the job market after a very long time of housekeeping (self-employed). Have computer skills and good management skills, but not sure how to express this. Thanks for any help you can give!
April 2, 2018 at 11:11 pm
As someone returning to the job market after a long time, you’d highly benefit from using a functional resume format: https://open.spotify.com/track/5qf5RkyeFIwPdHrftXnOLq?si=3wHe4A38SIqNR9GLlGK33g
It will allow you to place the focus of your resume on the skills you have that are relevant to your target job. Hope this helps!

Since you’re planning to move from sales to marketing, you should consider using one of the follow career change templates: https://resumegenius.com/resume-templates/career-level-life-situation-templates#career-changer-templates
It will allow you to showcase your transferable skills and make it easier for you to land interviews in a new field. Good luck!

I am applying for a cardiac catheterization technologist part time position at a facility that I previously worked for. I have 30 years of experience in multiple modalities in the cath lab. What is the best type of resume to keep experience, skills; et al to the absolute minimum so that it can be scanned over quickly and is easy for the hiring department and doctors to find what they’re looking for? The types of procedures I have been part of over the last 30 years is quite long, and I have 3 different degrees, however only one is pertinent to this career. Thanks
July 18, 2018 at 12:20 am
It would be quite difficult to condense your 30 years of experience enough to keep your experiences, and skills, etc. to an absolute minimum.
One thing you could try is using a functional resume format: https://resumegenius.com/resume-formats/functional-samples-writing-guide
It’s usually designed for people trying to change careers, but it may serve the purpose you‘re looking for. It will allow you to showcase your skills and experiences that are relevant to your target position in a much more focused and economical way.
