How to write a resume for a concierge
Looking for a concierge job in the hospitality industry for the first time or have several years of experience already? Prepare a targeted concierge resume to show employers your ability to provide high-level customer service and exceed guest expectations.
Here are three tips on how to make a compelling resume that gets you hired:
1. Introduce yourself with a concierge resume objective
Concierges provide guests with excellent first impressions, and your concierge resume is no different. A good way to impress hiring managers in the hospitality industry is to write a 2–4 sentence resume objective proving you have the skills and experience necessary to be a great first point of contact for customers.
Your resume objective sits at the top of your concierge resume and introduces your:
- previous experience doing concierge-related work
- customer service-oriented abilities
- educational details
- goals and motivations
This example of a concierge resume objective successfully addresses the above points. We’ve added colored underlines so you can easily see where each point is addressed:
Passionate customer service professional with 4+ years of experience as a concierge. Have a proven track record of excellent customer service and juggling multiple tasks simultaneously. Hold a Hospitality Associates Degree from Monroe College. Knowledgeable about the various attractions and events taking place in the Times Square area and looking to provide guests with an exceptional experience at Loews Regency Hotel.
Providing a descriptive overview of what you can offer gives your target company a better understanding of your relevant experience and accomplishments. Leading with this job-specific information increases the chances that hiring managers will continue reading the rest of your application.
2. Display your top concierge-related hard and soft skills
When writing your concierge resume, highlight your hard and soft skills to convey your value as a job candidate.
Hard skills are specific abilities or knowledge acquired through experience or training. For instance, listing your foreign language skills shows employers you can communicate with a wider range of customers. Also, making reservations, arranging transportation, and acting as an information resource are common duties for concierges, so don’t forget to list your computer skills.
Have a look at more hard concierge skills for your resume:
- Administrative skills
- Handling incoming and outgoing calls
- Managing a front desk guest book
- Math skills
- Server skills
- Tracking laundry and dry cleaning requests
You’ll also need soft skills, which are personal qualities that make you a good cultural fit for the job. Because concierges complete many daily tasks (such as working at a hotel or apartment complex’s front desk or acting as a personal assistant), mention your organizational skills to show you’re capable of handling a variety of work.
Additionally, including your customer service skills and interpersonal skills is essential. Employers seek concierges who can ensure guests feel valued and comfortable by paying attention to their requests (even the challenging ones) and doing their best to exceed them.
Here are other concierge-related soft skills to emphasize on your resume:
- Ability to multitask
- Active listening
- Attention to detail
- Communication skills
- Empathy
- Initiative
- Management skills
- Optimism
- Patience
- People skills
- Problem-solving skills
- Resourcefulness
And if you list concierge–related soft skills in your resume’s skills section, ensure you also explain how you’ve used these skills. You can explain your skills by adding details about them to the work experience section of your resume or in your resume objective.
For example, this resume bullet point highlights a concierge applicant’s resourcefulness when providing resources about local attractions and events:

Don’t forget to include hard numbers on your concierge resume (e.g., the number of guests you helped, amount of revenue you increased, or number of trips you arranged) so your target employer has a clear understanding of your contributions in previous roles.
3. Begin each work bullet point with an impactful action verb
By including resume action verbs, you give potential employers a clear idea of your capabilities.
Starting your concierge resume bullet points with descriptive action verbs like “greeted,” “planned,” or “prepared” helps employers visualize what you did in your previous roles and how you’ve exceeded expectations.
For instance, instead of passive statements like “responsible for” or “tasked with,” try using action verbs like these to set your concierge resume apart from other applicants:
Applied | Arranged | Communicated | Enhanced | Guided |
Increased | Led | Recommended | Scheduled | Provided |
Here’s an example from a concierge resume’s work experience section with bolded action verbs:
- Handled emergencies such as fire hazards and minor earthquakes calmly by checking up on guests, informing them of building policies, and leading them to safety
- Prepared detailed itineraries and appropriate transportation for groups of 5–20 families seeking recreational activities and local tours
