You shouldn’t have a photo on your resume. Here’s why:
- Hiring managers delete applications with photos so they’re not accused of discrimination
- Putting a photo on your resume distracts the reviewer from your qualifications
- If the employer needs to see a photo of you, they can view your social media profiles
- Even if you’re applying to a job that depends on your looks — like modeling or acting — your application will have a full-size headshot
However, if you’re applying to a job outside of the US, local customs may require you to have a photo on your resume. For example, most countries in Europe (except for the British Isles) require a photo, as do many Asian countries.
