Product designers shape how digital products look and work from the user’s point of view. They design interfaces, map out user flows, and refine experiences based on feedback, and the work involves shared tools and collaboration that doesn’t often need to happen in real time, making it a role where remote arrangements are a natural fit.

Client relationships are central to the role, and while some situations genuinely benefit from meeting in person, a lot of the process — outreach, presentations, negotiations, account management — can happen remotely. The skills that matter most here, building trust and understanding client needs, don’t depend on showing up to in-person meetings.

The work is tool-driven and largely self-directed in its day-to-day execution, even when part of a bigger team, making the role a remote staple for several years. Data scientists use data to help organizations understand trends, spot opportunities, and make better decisions. The work is computer-based throughout and doesn’t rely on a shared physical space. Where the role gets more interesting is in communicating findings clearly to other stakeholders, which takes strong collaboration habits no matter how the team is set up.
8. Data engineer
- Average listed remote salary: $130,000
- Highest listed remote salary: $175,000
- Projected job growth (2024–2034): 8.7%

Data engineers build and maintain the systems that collect, organize, and prepare data so other teams can rely on it. The work is closely tied to cloud platforms and online infrastructure, so there aren’t many natural dependencies on a physical workplace. That said, reliability and clear communication with the teams using that data matter a lot — the technical independence of the work doesn’t remove the need for good coordination.

The role involves research, writing, and working closely with product, sales, and design teams — and much of that collaboration is document-driven and doesn’t need to happen in real time.

Outside sales representatives generate revenue by finding new customers and building relationships with them over time. While the job historically involved significant travel, many parts of the process now happen through digital communication.
In day-to-day work, representatives identify potential leads, present products to prospective buyers, and manage deals as they move through the sales pipeline. Entry-level roles typically involve shadowing more senior members of the team and providing assistance.

In practice, analysts study workflows and identify inefficiencies to help ensure operations run smoothly.
How to find remote job opportunities
1. Target remote-first job titles
Not every job adapts easily to remote environments. Roles that rely primarily on digital tools, independent work, or written communication tend to appear more frequently in remote listings. Software development, data analysis, sales, design, and product roles are common examples because most of the work already happens online.
2. Tailor your resume for remote work
Employers hiring remotely often look for candidates who can manage their work independently and communicate clearly without constant supervision. Highlight experiences that show you can work autonomously and stay organized without being in the same office as your team.
If you’ve worked remotely before, make that clear on your resume. If you haven’t, you can still emphasize relevant experience, such as coordinating projects online, working with distributed teams, or managing tasks with collaboration platforms such as Jira and Trello.
3. Use remote-specific job boards and filters
Many traditional job sites list remote roles, but they’re often mixed with thousands of in-office listings. Using platforms that specialize in remote opportunities can save time and make it easier to find companies that actively hire distributed teams.
Remote-focused job boards like RemoteJobs.io only collect listings from companies that are open to remote hiring, which helps job seekers concentrate their search on roles that are genuinely remote or hybrid compatible. Checking these sites regularly can help you catch new listings before they attract large numbers of applicants.
Methodology
This report uses RemoteJobs.io listings data to identify the highest-paying remote jobs and entry-level remote jobs listed in 2026. Salary figures reflect listed compensation in RemoteJobs.io job postings, while fully remote share reflects the proportion of analyzed listings marked as fully remote.
Entry-level roles were identified using RemoteJobs.io listings tagged as entry-level or containing common junior indicators in the job title (such as “junior,” “entry-level,” “intern,” or “new grad”). Listings with clearly senior titles were excluded. Because this classification is based on job listing signals, some occupations listed may also include more experienced roles outside entry-level contexts.
Projected job growth data comes from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook. Where needed, job titles were matched to the closest corresponding BLS occupation category to provide employment outlook comparisons.
