Dear [Mr./Ms./Mx.] [Hiring Manager’s Last Name],
I’m writing regarding my application for the Clinical Research Associate position at Ascendion. As a dedicated pharmacy student with hands-on experience in clinical research and drug development, I’m eager to bring my skills in clinical trial design and execution to your team upon my upcoming graduation from the University of Houston.
During my internship at Top Pharmaceuticals, I assisted in designing and executing five clinical trials focusing on novel cardiovascular therapies. I analyzed trial data and contributed to the preparation of comprehensive study reports, which were presented to senior management in monthly updates.
Additionally, in my role as a Research Assistant at the University of Houston’s Department of Pharmacology, I led an independent research project on the pharmacokinetics of an anti-inflammatory drug. Through advanced analytical techniques such as HPLC and mass spectrometry, I identified a potential drug-drug interaction that contributed to our understanding of the compound’s effects. This project earned me recognition at the department’s annual research symposium and provided invaluable experience in data interpretation and scientific writing.
Thank you for your consideration. I’d welcome the chance to further discuss how my background aligns with your team’s needs. Please feel free to contact me at (713) 274-8432 or your.email@email.com.
Sincerely,
Your Name

How to write a pharmacist cover letter
To be a successful pharmacist, you have to be a doctor of pharmacy, have experience, and demonstrate exceptional customer service skills. But even with all three, you aren’t guaranteed a job.
Write the best possible pharmacist cover letter and land more interviews by following these three tips:
1. Highlight your pharmacist skills
You don’t need to list all of your relevant skills in your cover letter. You should have a skills section in your resume for a complete list. But demonstrate some of the most crucial ones in your cover letter for your employer to see.
Determine which skills are most important to the hiring manager by examining the job ad for the ones they mention the most frequently. If you can’t figure out which skills they prioritize, focus on your strongest skills instead.
If you’re not sure what skills to talk about, use a couple from this list of top pharmacist skills:
- Insurance claim processing software (VBASoftware)
- Medical software (Epic Systems, MEDITECH)
- General computer skills
- Customer service skills
- Communication skills
- People skills
- Instructing
- Monitoring
- Critical thinking
- Time management
- Problem solving
Don’t forget to include both hard and soft skills, since working as a pharmacist requires both extensive technical skills and the ability to interact with employees and customers.
There’s no need to mention your degree as a doctor of pharmacy in your cover letter if you have work experience, since you couldn’t have gotten that experience without one. But don’t forget to include your degree in your resume education section.

2. Add hard numbers to your achievements
Hard numbers are clear, objective, and concrete in demonstrating your accomplishments. Being specific about what you can do for potential employers is a much more effective argument for the hiring manager to bring you in than asking them to just take your word that you know what you’re doing.
You can find hard numbers for your cover letter in the number of employees you’ve hired and trained, the amount of money you’ve brought in for the company, or the percentage increase in sales or time saved.
Below is an example of using hard numbers in a cover letter:
Increasing sales by $3,000 per month by spearheading new customer service initiatives designed at personalizing service and educating our customers.
The hiring manager can appreciate what an increase of $3,000 per month would do for the company. By using this hard number in their cover letter, the candidate shows exactly how valuable they were to their last workplace.
3. Include strong pharmacist action verbs
A cover letter is meant to highlight your achievements, and that’s exactly what action verbs do. Using action verbs is a great way to show that you took initiative at your previous positions and worked to make things better than they had been before.
Plus, using the right action verbs can better illustrate your past achievements, which is sure to catch a hiring manager’s attention.
Here’s a list of action verbs that will spice up your cover letter:
- Generate
- Increase
- Reduce
- Decrease
- Explain
- Facilitate
- Administer
- Manage
- Spearhead
- Hire
- Train
- Educate
