How to create the perfect girlfriend or boyfriend resume
A girlfriend/boyfriend resume (or more broadly, a dating resume) is a document that follows the same structure as a resume for a job, but instead shows off what qualities make you a great partner.
Whether or not you have experience creating a resume, we’ll show you how to make a boyfriend application that’s sure to impress.
1. Choose the right dating resume template
When choosing a template for your girlfriend or boyfriend resume, consider using one of the more picture resume templates available online.
These templates offer fun and useful features like graphics that show skill levels, a space for a headshot, and other design elements that show off your dating qualifications.
Once you have the perfect resume design, it’s time to start filling in your details.
2. Add your contact info
Your resume header should contain your name and contact information so dates know how to reach you.
Your future dates will probably do a preliminary social media stalk anyway, so why not make it easier on them? Add your socials to the contact section along with your phone number or the main way you want to be contacted.
Want to get your dating resume noticed? Consider making a TikTok resume that condenses the main points of your resume into a short video.
3. Write a personal statement
A personal statement is where you’d indicate what you’re looking for and what kind of partner you’ll be.
If you need help coming up with an objective statement, here’s a good example you can use for inspiration:
Dating resume objective
Seeking someone who can keep up with my documentary obsession, join me on spontaneous road trips, and appreciate the beauty and subtlety of my Spotify playlists. The ideal partner will join me for Sunday morning pancakes and laugh at my dad jokes (bonus points if you can counter with your own).
4. List your prior relationship successes
On a traditional resume, the experience section is where you’d list all your relevant work experience that prepared you for the job. On a dating resume, there are a few ways you can approach this section.
In the example above, the boyfriend resume’s creator chose to detail some successes in past relationships such as a cute promposal and a successful family vacation.
If you have limited dating experience or would rather focus on other aspects of your life, you could fill this section with other experiences.
For example, do you have any volunteer experience or participate in any extracurricular activities that you’d want your dates to know about? Do you have a cool job you want to share some details about?
You can even give your relationship prospects an idea of what your schedule looks like so they can get to know you better.
5. Detail your educational background
Your education might not be as relevant to your relationship, but you should still include an education section on your dating resume.
Adding information about your educational background helps your dates figure out if you go to the same school or might have mutual friends. Plus, if you’re a college student, they might be interested to hear about what you’re studying.
So list your education, area of study, and your GPA (if you’re proud of it).
6. Highlight some important dating skills
The skills section of your boyfriend resume is the perfect place to show what qualities make you dateable.
Try to include a mix of personality traits (things like a sense of humor or loyalty) and skills you’ve developed that are relevant to dating (such as planning fun dates).
7. Include hobbies and interests
To find the perfect partner, you’ll want to include a hobbies and interests section in your dating resume.
Do you enjoy playing video games, gardening, or painting? Fill this section with some of your favorite activities to give your future dates some topics for conversation starters and let them see if your interests overlap.
