To make a resume without a template, use a text editor like Word or Google Docs and follow these steps:
- Open a blank document and start by typing your name in 30 pt font.
- Below your name, add your contact information.
- Add the following section headings:
- Resume Summary
- Work Experience
- Education
- Skills
- Fill in each section with your information.
- Finally, change the formatting:
- Make each section heading bold and larger than the rest of the text (e.g.: 14–18 pt font)
- Bold your job titles and degree
- Use bullet points to organize your job experience
- Use consistent spacing between each section
